Mercedes-Benz now surpasses with the new SLR McLaren Roadster 722 S the SLR McLaren Roadster. Both vehicles feature a fully retractable folding soft top capable of withstanding the high speed and are made of carbon fibre. This endows both models with a high degree of safety and torsional stiffness. In addition to increased power, the new two-seater cabriolet features more dynamic suspension tuning and improved aerodynamics. The new SLR McLaren Roadster 722 S is limited to 150 vehicles and predominantly hand-built at theFormula 1 workshops of McLaren in Woking (England). It will be availablefrom January 1, 2009.

We never thought France was extraordinarily fond of the Jeep, but Chrysler has seen fit to bring two Jeep concepts - the Patriot Back Country and the Compass Overland - to the 2008 Paris motor show.
Granted, as both consist mostly of trim and equipment modifications, they’re more akin to SEMA vehicles, not the typical one-off [...]

It takes a contortionist to slip inside the little yellow Dodge EV. But what would you expect? It is, after all, little more than a modified version of the cramped Lotus Europa.

Yanking my legs in and stowing them under the steering wheel, I reach for the “D” button, which has replaced the British sports car’s gearshift, on the center console. At first, it seems nothing has happened, but my escort just smiles, then suggests I tip in the throttle. Not quite as firmly as I try, it turns out, the sports car lurching forward with a shot.

Compared with the current CLK, this new vehicle’s front hood is more muscular, featuring more surface creases. 2008-09-22 - Mercedes-Benz is launching its first passenger car model equipped with a hybrid drive system in summer 2009: the S400 Blue Hybrid. The new model is based on the S350 and features a modified drivetrain. This encompasses a further development of the 3.5 litre V6 petrol engine, an additional magneto-electric motor, the 7G-Tronic seven-speed automatic transmission specially configured for the hybrid module, the necessary operating and control electronics, the transformer and a high-voltage lithium-ion battery. Thanks to its compact dimensions and modular design, the additional weight of the overall system is only 75 kilograms - including the comprehensive safety systems.

Port of Long Beach and Port of Los Angeles commissioners voted Thursday to approve three-year Clean Trucks Program loan and lease-to-own agreements with Daimler Truck Financial that will help trucking folks buy 2007-compliant diesel or alternative fuel vehicles.

The contracts were negotiated over several months by the two ports and the company. Due to the differences in their programs, each port approved its own contract with Daimler. In Los Angeles, only licensed motor carriers are eligible for the program. In Long Beach, the program is open to both companies and owner-operators.

Chrysler LLC said Friday it is preparing to reveal some of its future plans to its dealers next week, and one dealer said they’ll get a look at the next-generation electric vehicles the automaker is developing.

Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep dealers will get “insight into our business strategies” Tuesday via videoconference at about 100 movie theaters across the U.S., Chrysler spokesman Stuart Schorr said.

ThyssenKrupp AG sank to a two-year low, leading a drop in steelmakers after rival ArcelorMittal predicted “softness” in the market in the fourth quarter. Bayerische Motoren Werke AG and Daimler AG, the world’s biggest luxury carmakers, fell for a third day as crude climbed in New York. Deutsche Bank AG and Allianz SE led financial shares lower as the bailout of American International Group Inc. failed to ease concern that credit losses will subside.
